In what is certainly one of the strangests shifts in recent publishing history, Anne Rice, the best selling author of steamy, violent vampire novels is undertaking to write a series of "biographical novels" of Jesus. She claims her designs are not to cash with the growing religious reading audiences but rather because she herself is turning more to orthodox spirituality. "God is interesting again," she says.
Yes. well; I would suggest Ms. Rice's spirituality would be better served if she was content to read the divinely authoritative life of Jesus rather than trying to kick it up a bit with her own flights of fancy.
