Wilberforce Under Discussion

Last Saturday morning saw the latest in Vital Signs Ministries' Book Brunch discussions as 13 of us enjoyed introductory conversations over bacon, grilled sausages, breakfast potatoes, biscuits and jam, coffee cake, fruit, and a variety of juice and hot drinks before taking off on a lively discussion of Amazing Grace: William Wilberforce and the Heroic Campaign to End Slavery by Eric Metaxas. Several of the readers were associated with Vital Signs, some with Grace Bible Church, and some came along because of their specific interest in William Wilberforce, the man many esteem as the greatest social reformer in history.

Our conversation pursued many lines: Why the general ignorance of Wilberforce among modern Christians? What can we learn from our spiritual forefather about perseverance, Christian activism, learning, the stimulation of Christian fellowship, giving, etc? What are some of the lessons we can learn from Wilberforce's life of physical suffering? And much more.  It was an enlightening, stimulating time and we so appreciate the involvement of Patrick, John, Susie, Chase, Deb, Sue, Keith, Laura, Jennifer, Jeannie, and Matt.

The next Book Brunch? We will keep you informed when we decide the date and the book to be discussed.
