Afraid of Books?

From the Family Research Council...

Barry Lynn and his Americans United for Separation of Church and State are unhappy with Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R).

It seems Gov. Bush has encouraged Florida children to read C.S. Lewis' classic book, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. No fair, says Lynn, the book is "simply a retelling of the story of Christ." Lynn termed a reading contest on the book offered to Florida's children "totally inappropriate."

First, they kicked Bible reading out of the schools. Now, they want to banish classic literature itself. Lynn and others are running a war room operation, ready to spring into action at the first hint of You Know Who. And the losers, tragically, in this warfare are the children who are deprived of wonderful, uplifting stories that not only engage their hearts but also just might increase their reading scores.
