The Ace of American Humorists: James Thurber

If you're looking for well-conceived, well-written and thoroughly enjoyable humor, look no further than James Thurber. He truly is the best and the link here is to one of his wonderful essays, "The Night the Bed Fell." It is just one of a couple of dozen pieces Thurber wrote that still can make me laugh out loud, even though I've been re-reading them for four decades (at least!).

Try Thurber. If you don't find him a master of both language and subtle cynicsm -- and a downright delightful diversion -- then have your doctor check to see if your funny bone is still in place.

I'm betting that "The Night the Bed Fell" will be just the beginning of a long association between you and Mr. Thurber.
